Big Walk Platforms: Steam, Mac, PS5, Switch 2, Xbox

Where you can buy and play it

Steam carries the Windows and Mac builds, with Steam Cloud saves, 12 achievements, and crossplay to the consoles. Steam is also where the system requirements stay current, which matters more than usual because there is no demo to test with.

The Mac App Store sells a separate Apple Silicon build. It is the same game, but with one practical difference: no Game Center support, so those players always join sessions with a Join Code.

PlayStation 5 is the only PlayStation version, and playing with other people online follows PlayStation's usual subscription rules. Big Walk also appeared in the PlayStation Plus monthly lineup for August 2026, which is a limited-time claim window rather than a permanent free listing.

Nintendo Switch 2 is the only Nintendo version, with the same 2 to 12 player co-op and the same crossplay as everywhere else.

Xbox, Game Pass, and the original Switch

There is no Xbox version. The official platform list covers Steam, the Mac App Store, PS5, and Switch 2 and nothing else, so an Xbox purchase is not possible today. Nothing has been announced about a future port, and we are not going to guess at one.

Game Pass is a separate question with the same answer, and it is the one people get wrong most often. Big Walk did join a subscription service at launch — PlayStation Plus, in August 2026 — and that fact travels badly. If someone tells you Big Walk is on a subscription, they are probably right about PS Plus and wrong about Game Pass.

The original Nintendo Switch cannot run it either. The Nintendo release is Switch 2 only, and again, no original Switch version has been announced.

The wording here is deliberate. Not available means not today. It does not mean never, and you should be suspicious of any guide that claims to know which one it is.

Local co-op, split screen, and playing alone

There is no local co-op and no split screen. Big Walk is online-only, and every player needs their own device and their own copy — a session has everyone in the world at the same time, so one shared copy will not cover a group.

The official FAQ goes further than most games would. Talking to players outside the game is not allowed, because distance, walls, soundproof rooms, and radios are the puzzles. Sitting in the same room and shouting defeats the design as thoroughly as a Discord call does.

There is also no single-player mode and no random matchmaking. You can walk into a world alone, but the puzzles assume at least two people holding different pieces of information, so progress stops quickly.

In-game text chat is a full alternative to voice. House House confirms the entire game can be played that way without missing content, which is the accessible route for anyone without a microphone.

Price, editions, and key sites

Prices differ by region and store, and there was an introductory discount at launch, so any figure written into a guide goes stale within weeks. Check the store page for your own platform.

Panic sells Big Walk through the official stores. We have not found a publisher-run key shop, and this site does not link third-party key resellers — for a game whose whole value is playing with the same friends repeatedly, a key that turns out to be region-locked is a bad trade.
